What if your arm is amputated?

What would happen if your arm with the time on it was amputated? Does the time stop and you die? It seemed it needed to be connected to your body when it reached zero to kill you with a pulse. So could this be a way around it, to then age normally and die of old age?

You're in danger of over-analysing this. There are so many other questions to ask about the whole set up, that you really shouldn't even start. It's a bit of forgettable fun, as long as you can swallow all the 'But what if...?' questions.

Just b/c there are far more important questions than this doesn't mean that this still isn't a good question.

Good question I think it would reset to zero personally

 well then he'd have to be a really good looking guy if he wants anyone to give some time to him

They use their other hand for transfer. Getting time wouldn't be a problem. Giving some away, while you are keeping tabs on your own time would be much more awkward.

the clock doesn't stop you from aging. the clock causes you to die if it reaches zero. the people in this world are ageless but can die if they are killed. thats what the clock does if it reaches Zero. so if removing your armed protected you from dying by losing time then you would still not age but die if you could not sustain your life style ie eat and drink so you would have to figure a way to make time like the girl did with the time capsule

reply

I would imagine that the clock is just a handy way of knowing how much time you have. I would think that there would be a genetic marker that would be either 'on' or 'off' - i.e. alive or dead. The clock tells you how close you are to that marker being closed off.

So, if you didn't have an arm (or it had been amputated) I'm sure you could get the clock moved somewhere else.

Ha, smart question!

However, I think the arm was just an interface for that "life-sustainment" system, so to speak. Compare it to the monitor and/or keyboard of a desktop computer. When you unplug the monitor and keyboard (while the computer is turned on), it doesn't mean that the computer doesn't work anymore; you merely lost the way to communicate with it.

Excellent question, but I guess the person's at a great disadvantage if the timer is cut off. He wont be able to see what time he has got left nor can he buy himself some time.

You die. Plain and simple.
