why did the bus cost 2 hours

why did the bus ride cost 2hours when a cup of coffee only costed 4minutes

reply

Because the regime puts up prices to keep the poor dying and the stock portfolio of the rich high.

Can't believe how passionate some people in this thread has replied just about the bus fare. Deeper discussion than the movie. Haha

I was just wondering, was it not possible for her to buy an hours worth of bus travel and get off the bus as near to her son as possible and then run the rest of the distance to him? If she had bought an hours worth of travel, that would have taken her halfway to where she wanted to go. It would have cost her the one hour for the fare and say 15 minutes to get there and 15 minutes remaining to run. And her son was also running to her.

Also, had she not already travelled on the bus earlier in the day to get to where she needed to repay the loan. If so, the fare increase must have started at the beginning of the day. Or did the bus company or driver only decide to increase the fare in the evening.

Maybe I'm missing something?

That's a worse option. In your scenario, she has only 15 minutes remaining on her clock when she's halfway. By not taking the bus, she has 30 minutes (or more) remaining on her clock when she's halfway (since getting halfway is a one-hour walk, and a less-than-one-hour run).

It doesn't matter whether the bus drive is faster than in your assumption or not: when she takes the bus she will always end up with less than 30 minutes on her clock at the moment she's dropped off halfway; and when she does not take the bus but instead immediately starts to walk/run, she will end up with at least 30 minutes on her clock when she's halfway. So taking the bus (at the increased fare rate) is always more disadvantageous to her survival.
