Philippe's wealth

Sylvia said that her father is worth eons. An eon is one billion years. So Philippe can basically live for billions of years if he wanted to. Can you imagine living for just one thousand years? That in itself is amazing, but billions!?!?!? A person would eventually go insane, wouldn't they? Though I find it difficult that anyone would even make it to one thousand because you're bound to have an accident or something. Hell, slipping on a wet floor and hitting your head on something hard can kill you. Still, it's kind of awesome to think about. Personally, I think our current average lifespan (U.S.) of around 80 years is rather short, so I'd be happy to live for a thousand years. How about you?

It's strange concept and what I really liked about the movie is that it's soooo different.

The guy at the start of the film kinda went a little nuts and gave up he was worth thousands and tapped out after a hundred,

The person never dies unless they are killed or have an accident? I don't get the accident part say you go and drown you should be able to continue to live no? They can stop aging and have you live forever but they can't keep someone from drowning?

Makes sense to me. The designers of the "time system" have basically eliminated dying of natural causes (illness, aging, whatever) but anything external such as an accident still poses a threat to your life.

I think it's better this way. Imagine you trip on a rock or hole and fall into a river. You can't swim so you sink to the bottom and start the drowning process...but you can't die so you're basically stuck underwater, experiencing excruciating pain forever (drowning is very painful). That would suck.
