sleep paralysis?

The description of this movie and some of the imagery (like the poster) reminds me of sleep paralysis. I'm not scared of much these days, but I've had issues with it before and I'd really rather not see something that reminds me of it. I haven't even watched the trailer yet because of it. Can anyone tell me if this is totally off the mark or if it might be a bad thing for me to see?

reply

Well, I watched the trailers, and there didn't seem to be a sleep paralysis angle towards it. Mostly just a bogeyman type of thing.

I've never experienced sleep paralysis, but I did a project on it for school a while back. Is it pretty terrifying?

Terrifying doesn't even really cover it. Since I was a little kid, as far back as I can remember, the majority of my dreams were always nightmares. Long, intricate, realistic ones. So I would say that I don't scare with that sort of thing easily. But it's completely different when you KNOW you are awake. The fear is intensified if you have had realistic nightmares and tried tricks to remind yourself that you are dreaming, like counting or repeating phrases, etc.... and trying those tricks during sleep paralysis only to realize they're not working and you're actually awake. I didn't sleep for days afterward because I was scared that it would happen again. I was so messed up, I was afraid that any moment my hallucination would start back up. Mine involved a man trying to kill me. I'm of the understanding that while the hallucinations differ in small ways, all have similar elements. I'd rather not go into mine more, but if you've researched it, I'm sure you get the gist.

1st thing that came into my mind too!!
However, I doubt it would be so scary as a real sleep paralysis episode.

This movie has nothing to do with sleep paralysis. You are safe to watch it. If you get scared from the movie, it won't be because it reminded you of a sleep paralysis experience.
