contains spoilers: identity / nature of hollowface

So what do you think was actually up with hollowface?

was he indeed, as the psychologist suggested, a folie a deux? Perhaps brought on by both father and daughter having vivid imaginations (as exemplified by their writings).
And of course not to forget the fathers rather traumatic(subconscious) experience in his youth seeing the intruder drop to his death. And in case of the daughter brought on by finding the mysterious and ominious note.

Or was it, as the girl suggested, indeed a manifestation come to life of the spirit of the father's father? Which was succesfully put to rest by finally giving him a face (by finally identifying him as his father who came to get him and fell that night).

Any ideas?

Let the story be what it is meant to be, use your imagination to make the story either a psychological nature or supernatural nature,. You summed up both of the obvious plot lines, now use some brain power to further the story in which way you think it was, or think of both plots.

Much more enjoyment imaging the story rather than be given a direct story dictated by the obvious. Greatly written movie in my view.

What you are saying is: "I didn't understand the movie either, but I don't want to admit it". Come on. It's Ok for the script to leave you with clarifying for yourself whether Hollowface was real or not. But what's the point of the movie?! Do you know it?

Gognitti bailed. I made like Chow Yun-Fat.

I've opened this thread in a hope that someone would unleash the nature of hollowface, alas, it seems like the script doesn't let anyone to figure out if this thing was real or imaginary.

I guess it was indeed real, since just by reading her father's scribblings the girl shouldn't have exposed herself to the drama her father experienced in his childhood, so there was something other-worldly about this subject.
