Not what it used to be (at all) - I hope they end it soon

I've been saying that for the past couple of seasons now.

I get that the plot has to evolve, but when you take away the "identity" of the show you have to replace it with something else.

Harvey and Mike were always the cornorstone of the series.
Mike had photographic memory and was a street smart kid. Made some bad decisions in his life but wanted a fair shot for once to become something.
Harvey was confident, aggressive and a winner with a glimpse in his eye. If you pulled a gun on him he would whip out a bigger one or "A million other options" to get the upper hand. Also he would look good doing it.

You had the best and worst of society in those two, and they played off of each other so well.

Jessica was the queen bee and ferocious when it came to protecting her company and her people
Rachel was an up and commer
Donna was a great confidant and sidekick
And Louis was the wild card

It worked so well for the first 2-3 seasons and then completely lost it.

Jessica's character didn't go anywhere. Other than her fling we barely got to know her. Unfortunately I think it's part of the reason why her character is leaving the show. They just can't write a complete alpha female very well.

When it came to Mike and Harvey they changed things completely.
Harvey became a wreck... Had to see a shrink and got medicated at some point. Now he's serious all the time. Where do they plan to go with this? Bring old Harvey back please...

Mike is currently forgettable. Mike and Harvey haven't had a good chemistry for the last few seasons. They constantly fight and bicker like an old married couple.
They could've let Mike stay in jail for the entire season and I would've barely noticed.

Rachel.. ugh... They went from making her super annoying to "Can't live without you!! I wear his shirt just to feel him around meeeeeeee" What in the actual *beep*? She changes personality so much I'm sure she's bipolar.

Donna... another great example of a strong women the writers don't know how to handle.
She've switched sides a few times now. There's an underlying "love story" with her and Harvey that suddenly pops up once in a blue moon and random.
And of course she's "Super Donna". Which gets old real quick.

Louise.. Probably THE most wasted opportunity. Would've made an excellent friend "turning heel" and becoming a "super villian". The insider going rogue, starting a competing firm out of spite. This would give us proper "lawyer" showdowns between two brillaint lawyers in Harvey and Louise - brining the series back to its roots - The court cases and the "winning" mentality.
Instead they continue to show us what a goofball this brilliant Havard lawyer is.. Such a shame.

In summery it started out fantastic! I'll always love the first 3 seasons, but then it became a fragmented mess IMO.

Better they end it while they can....

It's already been renewed for another season...

Lol the torture continues?

I still watch it for some silly reason, but I remember hearing that season 3 was going to be the last season, I guess it's because I like some of the actors. Or that I hope something really interesting will happen. so sad to hear that it's been renewed for another season.... the whole story line with Mike in jail was annoying and unbelievable, even more than most of the show.

You are SO spot on, thank you! One addition: not only Mike and Harvey constantly fight like an old couple, everyone fights with everyone. About every little detail and without any common sense. It's a constant stream of unfounded, egocentric, illogical and frankly stupid arguments. And they're all supposed to be Harvard layers? I feel sorry for Harvard.

All I can say is Ditto to every comment you stated. I thought the first 3 seasons were great and I think the writers are not sure where to go with the show. Makes me think the writers might of thought the show would be around for 3 seasons, not there throwing out plot lines

At this point, it's 42 minutes of snappy dramatic scenes where someone in great clothes stalks up to another, threatens them, tells them "there's only one way" and they had better get what they want or whatever they promised them yesterday will be reversed.

Every character has backstabbed every other. None of them react like real people would, they simply lay down some ultimatum and seemingly forget the years of friendship or loyalty they have shared to throw a tanty to get what they want.

It's... disappointing. Where are the movie quotes? The LOLs? The interesting cases? Given every 5 minutes there's a life and death, melodramatic Armageddon scenario, there's seemingly no room any more for characters and fun interaction.

A pity. Really enjoyed this show for a while. Juuuuuust made it through Season 6 to see what happened. Maybe they shake it right up in Season 7, but please tone down the histrionics.

Ah yes, the movie quotes too. Another great thing that went AWOL in the blast.
