I'm Glad The Marketing Didn't Worry Me Too Much

The marketing (both trailers and TV spots) did absolutely nothing for me. But since I REALLY enjoyed the first movie (it's not my favorite movie of all time or anything like that or in my top 10 or 20), I was still going to give the movie a chance. Plus I have seen plenty of bad trailers/marketing for movies, but ended up liking them in the end. Like Mission Impossible 5 and Kingsman 2, although there is a bunch more. So I was just telling myself that maybe it's bad marketing/bad trailers. In the end, that was pretty much it for Avatar 2. I liked Avatar 2 overall. That last hour felt pretty rewarding too. Not saying the first two hours were boring/uninteresting. I still had fun with the first two hours and I remained interested in stuff, but that last hour was a lot of fun. And a lot of the last hour is left out of the marketing. There is a few shots/moments in the marketing (that I saw), but majority of the last hour was completely left out of the marketing and saved for when you watch the actual movie. So with that, I'm glad I hung in there and went off my thoughts of the first movie and used the first movie as Avatar 2's marketing instead of the actual marketing. I'll be buying the movie on Blu-Ray. And if you were iffy on the marketing, I'd say still check out the movie. It's really just one of those scenarios where the trailers and TV spots aren't good but the actual movie is. I wouldn't worry about the 3 hour runtime either. I thought it flew by overall. There is some minor pacing issues in the middle of the movie (I want to say between the 1 hour mark and 1 hour 45 minute mark) or you are saying, "okay let's get things moving a little faster than what you are" or "I get it, let's move on now," but other than that, the movie does go by at a pretty good pace. The movie is a little more action-y than the first movie as well. There is still some action in the first two hours. It's not two hours of nonstop talking/further world building (sine it's a sequel) and then everything is saved for the final hour. There is still action in the first two hours. Maybe an action scene every 15-20 minutes in the first two hours. Something like that.
