I have made a mistake...

I really thought the film would be unwatchable to the same extent as Transformers, The Day After Tomorrow, 2012 and so on.

But I actually liked it. Yes it was shallow and predictable and didn't shy away from Hollywood cliches. But I actually enjoyed it. I prefer it to X-Men Apocalypse, The Legend of Tarzan, Alice Through The Looking Glass and so on.

I think it is a shame it was released in a period with so many big budget flicks that just promised silly mindless entertainment, so basically just like ID:R, because it deserves better for actually making a suitable nostalgic and silly sequel to a guilty-pleasure blockbuster that works.

It is a bit like Star Trek Beyond, but slightly different.

It was predictably good.

But they should have waited for Will Smith...

reply

They didn't need to *wait* for Will Smith: the Fresh Prince demanded $50 million and a two-picture deal and the studio rightly laughed at him. I think this might be a cover story however. Maybe Will was worried that Lord Xenu would disapprove?

reply

Me thinks Lord Xenu would approve if Big Willy gave a small donaion of, let's say 50% of that money, to his cause...
