Jesus, this looked like a straight to video rental

Just watched it, and as a big fan of the original, I can't even comprehend what the hell happened with this film. It was so terrible, just forget about the SCI-FI and the action, as a movie it failed miserably. Who cut this film? Seriously? Almost no cut in this film makes any sense. Looks like it was cut down from 3 hours to 2, but the final edit was done in 24 hours on a laptop in a rush.

Terrible CGI btw, especially the mother ship. Ships in the first film looked more real than this one. F16's from the first film looked more real than the jets in this one. No tension, no suspense, builds up to nothing whatsoever, terrible acting by very good actors, something really messed up going on here. Emmerich has never done a picture this bad. I'm lost.
