I genuinely think Hollywood has forgotten...

... how to pace films. There were many things wrong with this film, but many of them could have been forgiven if the pacing were better. This was almost like an experiment in a one-act structure or something. There were no quiet moments of reflection, just constantly escalating action. What a mess.

Yeah mate, what you say definitely rings true for me as well.

There seems to be this prevailing idea in Hollywood that says when a film isn't working you just cram everything together more tightly, so the audience doesn't have time to think too much and notice the problems.

I think it's insane. Personally, I don't think there's much that makes a film more tedious than relentless action around characters we haven't been given any reason to know or care about. Without scene development and linkages, you haven't got a story, just a string of "and then they ..." moments.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
