3000 sq miles ship?

Is it possible that a ship or any other thing of that size could actually dock or land on the Earth without hurting it's atmosphere or gravity or eco system or anything else instantly?

-Oh lord, Do we have the strength to carry on this task in one night? Or are we just jerking off.

Later in the film when theyre flying inside of it, some of the exterior shots of the ship make it definitely not look 3000 miles in diameter. Only a few hundreds miles at best. If it really were 3000, you would see it taking up the entire horizon, which the on-earth shots of it definitely did not. Seems like the 3000 miles line was inserted somewhere in the script because it sounds impressive, but then in the rest of the film they forgot to follow through with it in the CGI.

The ship that they were flying around inside of was the queen's attack ship moving around near Area 51. The 3000 mile diameter harvesting ship was stationary drilling a hole to the Earth's core in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

And yes, a ship or any other thing of that size landing on the Earth would definitely destroy the atmosphere, oceans, and eco system.

Ah right, I wasnt paying close enough attention. Just assumed some other driller ship was drilling the core, meanwhile the "big" one was the one moving around the planet... which wouldnt nearly have been big enough. Damn these aliens with their giant ships :X
What do you think could happen in a 3rd movie? Basically they would have to come with a death star and just blast the whole planet apart that time. And humans better be in outer space by then with colonies and defense layers around mars and the asteroid belt, etc.

I was really upset with the size of the ship, it was just flat out absurd!

I mean, 3000 mile diameter ship, coming into Earth's atmosphere would quickly destroy all life on the planet. The heat and smoke it generated from the friction coming in would pollute the whole planet with a thick black smoke that would block all sunlight for years, and reduce breathable oxygen to nothing. Also, when the ship's landing gear dug into the ocean, those waves would be much, MUCH bigger than they showed off. Basically all ocean life in the Atlantic would be killed off. And lets not forget that an object with that size hitting the Earth's crust would generate huge chunks of debris, shooting off and creating more destruction throughout the world. So yea, the whole Earth would be completely destroyed. Also, it just makes no sense to me, that a ship that large, which needs the planet's core for energy, wouldn't just emit some large, deadly, radiation to kill off all organic species on the planet's surface, so that it can easily get what it needs, and not have to deal with all the pesky, inferior life forms that are trying to defend the planet - basically it would just be like Raid that we use on ants.

Seriously. Or if for some reason that's not possible, why not just circle the planet a couple times and let the ship's gravity tear everything up? Even if the sheer destruction we saw from it flying over large cities didn't kill everybody, it would at least do enough damage that the pesky life forms wouldn't be able to mount a counter attack fast enough.

Like, just a few more hours of preparation before starting the drilling would've made the whole process way easier.

Maybe they wanted to save their fellow soldiers held captive?
Maybe they like to fight?
Maybe they are stupid?
Maybe they like to see us suffer?

I could go on

I agree. A 3,000 mile ship is absurd! That's not nearly big enough to contain 237,182,000 cubic miles of 9,800 °F iron–nickel alloy at 51,500,000 PSI.

Here, let me help you: "I'm really smart and I like listing to myself, so I'm just gonna go ahead and copy-paste some numbers I found on some random wiki page and use them in a sentence"

Who says they are not gonna wait, until it cools off after drilling?
Who says they don't have technology to contain it? Maybe they freeze it, take off chucks of it, store it for later..

People should start use their imagination, before coming in here rambling on how stupid everything in movies are, because every single little detail isn't explained and spelled out in huge letters.

Why did they land? Maybe they wanted to save their fellow soldiers captured. Who knows; Maybe they lost half their intelligence over time, because the cloned themselves too much and all they have left is their technology.

Maybe they are like stupid Orcs, who likes to fight.

Remember Mars Attacks? Maybe they are juvenile spoiled kids with toys.

Complains about the absurdity of a 3,000 mile diameter ship; completely ignores the fact that Star Wars used several planetary-sized Death Stars.
