They couldn't create helicarriers?
Seeing humans use all the alien tech to create hybrid fighters and stuff, I figured they would be able to create helicarriers using the Aliens' anti-gravity technology that made the City Destroyers fly.

shareMaybe they didn't want to be sued my Marvel, but this is the most interesting, intelligent comment I've replied to on this board.
shareThank you. Yeah, I also had the inkling that Marvel would sue Fox if they included helicarriers in this movie, as well. But by not including anything like helicarriers or floating battleships in this movie, it represents an elephant in the room since they seem to have went all out in using all the alien technology to create their new aerospace defense force.
shareYes it does beg the question why no helicarriers logistically that would make sense.
shareWouldn't be worth it.
If were going off a helicarrier similar to the one in The Avengers, then the alien saucers are much larger and heavily armed and could take them out with a single shot of their powerful lasers.
The small tactical fighters they built are able to make hit and run strikes, engage the small alien fighters and proved to be more useful.
I don't know.
shareWell it depends. The helicarriers don't have to take on the alien saucers straight on, they could keep their distance and just be used to mop up alien fighters and provide cover fire to the hybrid fighters. Plus if they have shields, they could be quite durable against the alien fighters' attacks. As for the alien saucers' heavy lasers shooting at them, being at a distance they could always try and maneuver out of the way to evade their fire. At least that's my strategy for the helicarriers function in battle.
shareYou mean one giant mega-laser on the moon wasn't enough to impress you? :P
"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."
