The chinese characters were terribly introduced and so blatantly added just to avoid huge financial losses since the movie was crap. They added the female chinese pilot just to add some overseas ticket sales to avoid major bombing. Horrible.

Other way around, the female pilot had her husband pay a lot of money to get her in the film. It's a joke, all of it.
shareoye, IDK, she was cute and maybe could have had some development, if there were serious, though I think it mostly worked.
You had the beta/alpha junior male go after her with some balls ... for a summer blockbuster, it was not bad and I have seen much worse "pandering" in other movies and even in real life.
It was forced, she had nothing to bring to the table, they just throw in some shots of her facial expressions so you remember she is still there.
