Didn't they say the mother ship was

3000 miles long? If that was the case, the US is only about 3000 miles coast to coast so it would have been easy to just destroy just about everything in a very short amount of time.

Yeah, it's bigger than the moon. What bugs me is when they say "how the hell did we miss this?" LOL It's like the writers didn't have the energy to explain it, so the just put it right in your face. Lazy writing.

But hey, I'm only 50 minutes into it so maybe they explain by the end. Although, I severely doubt I can make it another hour. I'm bored, I'm here haha

There was even a throwaway line about how they predicted that if it landed it would 'crack the Earth's surface,' and yet that point is never brought up again after it's been said.

Of course, what would have been a bit more interesting, would be if this thing did just 'black-out' the US, leaving the rest of the world to pull together and fight back.

One of those, "The Americans did it 20 years ago...we have the tech...we can fight back too!"

"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."

The issue here is that we could, in theory, take out the mother ship the same way we did the smaller ships in 1996. In the beginning, the distress call shows exactly how we took them down. SO this time, the aliens landed over the Atlantic Ocean, probably to minimize the risk of any ground attacks. It also allowed her BAIT plan to work flawlessly.
