Insanely bad- especially if you loved the first one

This new film looks bad, sounds bad, has completely dull FX, and feels like it was made by a man with a gun to his head. It's a big, sprawling, random production that feels like it never once considered the enjoyment factor of any type of viewer. It's almost as if goverment contractors made it.

Some of you may say "but I like massive dumb Summer movies". Well you won't be saying that any more if you are foolish enough to ignore advice here, and pay to see this stinker.

There's ZERO excitement or dramatic tension in ID4:R. The film rips of many other genre films (including, unbelieveably, the Doctor Who and the Daleks one from the 1960s). Indeed it takes 'inspiration' from every SF movie EXCEPT the original ID4- and feels far more like a Michael Bay production than the director's earlier works.

Think Invasion LA, Armeggeddon, Battleships, but without ANY of the cheese value of those earlier stinkers.

Then, to add supreme insult to injury, this movie feels like the TV movie version of a 4-hour miniseries...with tons of scenes dropped to get the running time down, making for random choppiness.

Fox should be ashamed of themselves, and after his last three stinkers (including this one), no-one should ever employ this director again.

I am honestly appalled at what this turned out to be.

Who could possibly have thought this script was worthy of being made? How did it pass to production? AWFUL.

Clearly the actors knew it too, everybody phoned in their performance simply for the paycheck.

The cold winds are rising. Winter is coming.

I completely agree with everything you said except Armageddon, I actually love that movie. Yes it's cheesy and unrealistic, but so is the first ID4 and yet I love them both. To me they're both classic adventure movies from my childhood.

Yeah, the original Independence Day and Armageddon are both cheesy and completely unrealistic, but they're enjoyable. They have a high rewatchability quality to them, if you're flipping thru the channels looking for something to watch, if you come across either of them, you're gonna stop flipping and watch, no matter where in the movie you come in. Resurgence has none of that.

This is exactly how I felt.

If I'm not replying to you, most probably you are on ignore.

I agree with you that Independence Day: Resurgence is terrible, but I disagree with you comparing this crappy movie to Armageddon. I love Armageddon; it's a very fun movie, unlike this movie.
