Yes.

Also, AFAIK, this is why "fusion drives" are bad in atmo - as the ships go about 20,000MPH (re-entry is around 15,000MPH - orbital velocity is around 16/17,000 MPH)...

friction will burn you up!

Somehow though, I feel that a ship this big, moving so slowly, would not burn up, or if it did, not to the extent this one was.
