Who else thinks IDR was too short? ID4 was an epic that built to a climax. The sequel on the other hand seems to reach the end at warp speed.
shareI could tell while watching it that it was edited and butchered to death. There is a longer (probably better) extended cut of it somewhere. Disappointed it was not available on Blu ray or DVD.

Yea, I tought the movie paced pretty good in the beginning, laying the foundation of the modern world. But the ending was too anticlamtic, nothing on scale compared to the first movie.

shareYou can tell it was butchered in the editing room, my evidence being in the movie's novelization. In the book, there's so much more in it, and the first act was much longer, it even features the ESD installation on Saturn's moon Rhea being attacked by the arriving alien ship, which was mostly explained in one line of dialogue in the actual film.
My suspicion: I believe the film was originally 2.5 hours long, but Fox didn't have faith in it, and decided to cut it down to 2 hours to hopefully boost up more ticket sales per night.
