Did anyone like the way the werewolves torched?

Did anyone like the gimmick of werewolves burning to ash in almost a flash, a la, Buffy the Vampire Hunter television series?
I'm still not decided if I liked this or not. On one hand, it was very convenient and allowed for a faster, cleaner, more convenient way of dispatching werewolves. But it seemed to obvious a rip-off of vampires.
Killing a werewolve is akin to killing a large, very dangerous mammalian carnivore, albeit with a silver metal-based weapon. The creature dies and then morphs back into its original human form.
I also didn't care much for the crappy, CGI effects werewolves. I would have even liked better the old 60s and 70s werewolves actors, stuntmen with blackened faces, fake fangs, and fur glued to their faces. Or, how about using the same effects from the excellent, 1981 THE HOWLING? If not, there are excellent, special effects prosthetics masks available on the market. At the local Halloween party store I saw one or two, very good quality, realistic werewolf pull-over head masks. For movies you need to add in jaw and eye movement. That would have been more entertaining than CGI werewolves. To save costs, very few of the realistic werewolf masks would have the built-in motors to move the jaws and eyes. These are for the close-up werewolves. The stuntmen in the background who get killed at a distance can wear the cheaper, non-moving masks.
