Why did they call her Red? I missed one part and it must have been explained then.

I was assuming it was because her hair is red, but that might not be correct.

I guess they thought by throwing in red hair we'd assume it was b/c of that.

Did none of you people pay attention to the movie?

Her brother clearly explained that every first-born daughter in the family was nicknamed "Red" as a tribute to their ancestor (the original Red Riding Hood).
