So why didn't the jocks who crushed Matthew's legs...

Why didn't the jocks who crushed Mathews legs with crow bars got caught and made to pay him loads of money? Seems like everybody just accepted the crime.

Why would they? It's a small town, they were athletes, and everyone thought Matthew was gay.

Are you a moron? Small town has nothing to do with illegal activity. He could have easily sued them. Being gay doesn't mean you don't get to get justice for people who cause you bodily harm. What century did you grow up in?

Good answer. As a friend of mine once said, never sue anyone who isn't loaded. (No, I'm not the suing kind).

But actually, the responders above aren't all wrong either. Small towns aren't exactly known for dishing out justice. They are interconnected by friendships and kinships. I should know, I grew up in one.

It's not that the people intend to be unjust. It's just that they tend to believe those who are closest to them.

They probably got prison time, but unless they came from rich families there would be no money to be gained from them.
