So is the sequel happening or not?

It was announced last April that a sequel was to be made and that they were working on a script.. Mila Kunis said in May that all the cast are signed on for sequels.. The only person who wouldn't be returning is the director Sam Raimi..

But since then there's been no mention of a sequel.. They haven't officially announced that the sequel isn't going to happen, they just haven't said anything.

So what's going?

Ironically came in here wondering same thing. Just rewatched this movie other day & was hoping to find some answers to how the next one will be played out.

I was also wondering the same thing.

"Weird is just a side effect of being awesome."

I guess it was canned. Must have sold bad for it not to get a sequel...

Looks at box office then looks at Alice In Wonderlands and how long it took to get a sequel. Disney just doesn't rush films out like many other studios do. A sequel is still likely.

No, it's still happening.

Disney is appallingly slow at making sequels... You would think every single sequel they ever worked on was in development hell...

reply

The only info that I know about is that the cast had signed on for sequels and that's about it.

If it's all the same to you, I'll have that drink now.-Loki (Marvel's Avengers)

I really hope they make a sequel because I really enjoyed this film.

I think after the backlash toward Franco and Kunis as to how horrible they are in the film, the sequel may have been cancelled...

No, its standard procedure for Disney to announce a part two of a successful movie they have created, but after that nothing happens.
Just look at the movie Enchanted from 2007, people are still waiting for that Enchanted 2 that they announced in 2010.

Either way, as long as there isn't one, it's good for viewers!

You do realize that you aren't forced to watch if they have a sequel? If it comes out, I hope you won't have a cow over it and just realize that you are under no obligation to pay for it or have it on your tv screen when it gets to tv.

reply

I do have to watch it because I work for the production company. And stop using "don't have a cow"-no one says that anymore

reply

stop having a cow over people saying stop having a cow ;)

I love this movie, but I don't think it needs a sequel. To me, it's a prequel to the original 1939 Wizard of Oz movie and if they make another, it might mess up the continuity.

It took 6 years to make & release the Alice in Wonderland sequel. A movie that made a billion world wide. Unless another co-owned studio like Marvel or Lucasfilm is making a movie with/for Disney, The House of Mouse takes its time.

Also this movie was not a flop, it made 500 million world wide.
