am i the only one who really liked this movie??
i put off watching it due to all the flak it has gotten, but i really liked it a lot. i'm a 34 year old guy, in case anyone wonders.

shareI agree and I am also a 34 year old guy.
shareYes, I didn't watch it for all the same reasons for a minute, but saw it recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. Just simplistic and cheery enough and still clever about it's good vs evil story. I liked how good and evil were choices rather than the traditional fairy tale legend stuff (not taking away from that but it was a good change.)

I'm 47 and I was ready to not like it and compare it to the 1939 Wizard of Oz but I really liked this movie. It's now another one of my favorite movies along with the Wizard of Oz. I just realized that I already commented on this before
shareWell, to me it was an awesome movie but that will be probably because of the fact that I love most of it's cast (Franco, Michelle, Rachel or that girl that was starring as a china girl) and because of the credits song (Almost Home by my another favourite member of this movie Mariah Carey) but mostly because of the shameful fact that I have never seen the original musical. Yeah I'm ashamed but I have never got any need to do it.

I love it more than the original! Franco and the entire cast are great. And it's the best 3d movie I ever saw. So many pop out fx and so much depth. Screw the professional critics! Of course they all are never gonna allow it to be as good as the original which is good but not as exciting as this one.
shareNo, you're not the only one. A great film.

I really enjoyed this too. There are lots of interesting homages to the original film. We always thought of the wizard as a fraud but actually he was forced into it to banish the witches. I always wondered what the wicked witches were like too when they were younger. And my favourite part is that the Theodora tears burn her face, so now we know what a bucket of water will do. Good enjoyable family film.
shareIt was better than another JJ Abrahm's "re-boot"
What are they doing? Why do they come here?
Some kind of instinct, memory, what they used to do.
Yes, I liked it and was hoping for a trilogy.
shareThis may be one of my favorite fantasy films ever. It ties in wonderfully with the Wizard of Oz and it really brings to life the Land of Oz in a way that the 1939 film simply can’t. My only complaint about how they depicted the Land of Oz is that some of the colors are too saturated to where parts look fake; I wish they toned it down some so it looks more realistic; granted it’s a fantasy land but it could’ve looked a bit more “realistic”.
In a way, this film is more faithful to the books than the 1939 film, so I really appreciate that.
Acting was mostly on point; I love all actors in their roles. There were a few parts where James Franco looks like he’s acting instead of being “Oz”, but mostly he does a great job and in some parts I feel he does excellent.
I too wish there were more “Oz” films.
