Plot (so far): Karena is on a train to a college she will start studying at. But she has a premonition about a horrible train crash and tells everybody to jump off. She only manages to save two people though and then wonders what just happened and why. She gets to hear about the Flight 180 disaster.
Meanwhile:
It turns out that Alex actually survived the brick falling, and that he all these years have lived on the streets, anonymous and disguised. Kimberly and Thomas are not fooled by a second though, as they recognize his face from the news article on his death. They tell about the train crash and the premonitionist and ask him for his help and he rudely, but understandably, replies ”What the hell can I help with?”.



SCENE 1: Premonition and disaster

Karena is waiting for her train to arrive, which is soon. She's having one very heavy bag, full of school equipment among other things. She's impatient, but after 10 minutes it's there. She lifts the bag up, which can drop at any second, up on her shoulders. She walks up on the stairs, but suddenly noticed her left leg is lowered. Looking down, Karena sees that one of the steps are broken. Slightly unease settles, but somebody pushes her from behind and makes sure to get on the train. When on it, she looks for a good enough seat. She chooses one to the right. Someone is sitting in front of her, a regular teenage guy with headphones on, listening to music. She can hear a little of it: ”Live or die before I get it done, will you decide... Take my words and turn them into signs...” She then picks up a book to read, any book, and it happens to be called Marks Of Death. She starts reading it, and overhears a woman having talking with someone on her phone.

Woman on phone: Hm? Yeah, I'll be there soon! I had to hurry as fast as I can, I feel like a trainwreck.

Karena ignores it and just keeps reading her book. Suddenly the book turns pages by itself, till the last page where it says:
END
She's weirded out and puts the book down. Above her she sees a commercial sign: ”Is your life off the rails? Call Dr. Steig.”

The train driver starts speaking.

Train driver: ”Right now the train is leaving Houston, going towards Berlington. Please be seated, a checktaker will take a look at your tickets any moment. Thank you.”

At first nothing else is said, but then suddenly a distorted voice is heard through the speakers too.

”Train driver”: You all better be relaxed. Especially you, Karena...

She is shocked when her name is mentioned and taps on the person in front of her.

Teenage guy: Huh...?
Karena: S-something weird just happened.
Teenage guy: What?
Karena: The driver just called out my name.
Teenage guy: Really? You... know him?
Karena: No, I don't know him. I don't understand why...
Teenage guy: I dunno either. [mildly chuckles]

We see Karena's confused reaction, then cut to where the train driver is sitting. Somebody else arrives to the same room.

Train driver: All right, I'm gonna go for a break. You takin' over for me, Mike?
Mike: Sure.
Train driver: Thanks.

The train driver leaves his seat and Mike steps in. He's holding an energy drink.

Train driver: Hey! Careful with that, make sure you don't spill it.

Mike shrugs him off and sits down in front of the controls. After a while, when he's going for a sip, he accidentally spills over the controlboard.

Mike: Oh for Christ's...

He takes out a napkin from his pocket to try and wipe it off. But his elbow then accidentally switches off auto pilot. He doesn't notice it. For no reason whatsoever, the fire alarm starts going and water is pouring all over the buttons. Mike starts panicking.

Mike: Jeremy!!

He knocks on the door. Jeremy shortly opens it.

Jeremy: I told you not to spill over the- OH MY GOD!

A fire erupts and Jeremy is about to speak into the megaphone.

Jeremy: Listen u...

He notices that it's broken. Jeremy decides to go out and warn everyone, but the door is suddenly locked. The fire closes in on him.

Mike: Let's get into the-

But the door to the room Mike went into is locked too, so they are both stuck.

Jeremy: THE FIRE EXTINGUISHER!
Mike: We don't have one, a new hasn't been bought yet...

Sadness strucks Mike and Jeremy is scared out of his mind.

Jeremy: HELP! HEEEEELP!! HEEEEEEEEEEELP!!!

It reaches out to where Karena is sitting and she is shocked.

Karena: Jesus Christ!

She looks at all of the other passengers, stunned that nobody else is brave enough to help out. She runs up to the door of the control room, but can't open it. Jeremy and Mike notice after a while someone's right outside.

Jeremy: JUST BARGE RIGHT THROUGH IT!

Karena pushes and pushes and does manage to break through it, but not save the two men. The fire spreads and people start screaming. The teenager who sat in front of her takes off his headphones and runs for the exit. The fire also heats up the floor, holes being made. People fall under and are crushed by the train. Karena is sweating with fear, trying to escape the fire. After quite a bit of trying, the fire gets to her and also falls under the train. She gets squashed and then...
The premonition stops. She's boggled by what just happened. This can't be real, can it? She opens her bag to see if the same book pops up again. It does. Startled, she immediately throws it back down. It doesn't go into the bag though, it falls on the floor. She remember something else and taps on the shoulder of the teenager in front of her.

Karena: Hey...!

The teenager takes off his headphones.

Teenage guy: Yeah?
Karena: Notice the sign above you?

He scratches his head, but Karena points at where it is.

Teenage guy: Yeah, a psychiatrist.
Karena: Right, but isn't there something weird about it??

He is confused.

Teenage guy: Huh?
Karena: ”Off the rails”... Why would it say ”off the rails”???
Teenage guy: Figure of speech. What's wrong?

She tries to explain in words, but the same message from the speakers as before is heard.

Train driver: ”Right now the train is leaving Houston, going towards Berlington. Please be seated, a checktaker will take a look at your tickets any moment. Thank you.”
Karena [quietly]: Oh God oh God, he's gonna call out my name...
Teenage guy: What do you mean?
Karena: My name is Karena. Any second!

It takes a few seconds, but after a moment it happens as in her vision.

Train driver: You all better be relaxed. Especially you, Karena...

The teenager looks her with a surprised expression.

Teenage guy: Okay, that is... creepy.

Karena is becoming paranoid quickly, then decides that...

Karena: Stay right here, wait for my signal.
Teenage guy: What...
Karena: I don't know what happened up there. I don't... know. But whatever it is, it will set the train on fire.
Teenage guy: Okay, I don't know what to say...
Karena: Wait here!

She runs up to the door to the control room and leans her ear towards it, hoping to hear at least fragments of a conversation. After a while, she does.

”go... break... takin' over for...” ”Sure.”

While it's not all, it's enough to understand.

Karena: DON'T GO FOR A BREAK!
Jeremy (from inside): Huh? Who is it?
Karena: The... THE PLAN WILL BE SET UNDER FIRE!
Jeremy (annoyed): Hey don't scare the passengers like that, it's not nice!
Karena: Scare the passen...? WE'RE GONNA DIE!
Jeremy: Shut up, will you?! (to Mike) Take over for me, I'm gonna go have a talk with this lady.
Mike: Gotcha.

He steps out of the room and meets a frightened Karena.

Jeremy: What's the problem?
Karena: Whatever you do... don't let anyone else take over...
Jeremy: I trust Mike. I feel confident he knows what he's doing.
Karena: Listen to me!
Jeremy: Calm down.

He closes the door on her and gets back to where he were. This makes Karena frustrated. She gets back to her seat.

Karena: Okay, we've got to leave. We've all got to leave.
Teenage guy: Well, it's not that I don't believe you, but... how?

Karena breaks the emergency glass for the axe and is ready to swing it.

Teenage guy: Whoa! WHAT THE HELL?
Karena: I'm not gonna hurt anyone, I'll try to open the door with it!
Teenage guy: You are not going to...
Karena: Yes, I am. I'm going to jump. But first... [to the other passengers] All right, follow my lead! The train is going to set on fire! I can't explain now how I know, just DO AS I SAY! I'm going to break the door... and jump. And you all jump after me, but... carefully! Or else someone is left behind!

At first nobody answers, but one person then protests.

Person: You are crazy! I'm telling the driver!
Karena: NO!

The person gets up from his seat.

Karena (to the teenage guy): You! Stop him!
Teenage guy: But...
Karena: STOP HIM! JUST STOP HIM!

The teenage guy is unsure of what to believe, but runs after the person.

Teenage guy: Wait!

The person doesn't listen and the teenage guy doesn't run fast enough, so Karena (still holding the axe) runs after too.

Karena: STOP!

She finally tackles him, making sure she doesn't run any further.

Karena: Now, as I said, we... We have to get out of here...

Now the screams inside of the control room are heard.

Teenage guy: Something's happening... We've got help them!
Karena: No! Don't open the door!
Teenage guy: But we have to-
Karena: If you open the door, we will all die! LET'S GO! NOW!

She's having struggles as the person gets a strong grip of her.

Person: I'll call the police and have you arrested!

The person gets up from the floor and barges through the door as hard as she can. Karena looks at her with a shocked face, knowing she's doomed them all.

Karena: *beep* you...

She takes the teenage guy's arm and runs as the fire is closing in on them. People start screaming everywhere. The stubborn person realizes the horrible mistake, but is cooked alive by the fire. Screams are heard. Karena lifts the axe up (she never stopped holding it) and now will finally try to break through one of the doors to jump out... It's not easy, as it's a very worn axe.

Karena: *beep*

She gives up on the door and goes for a window instead. After three tries, she manages to smash through it with her hands. She gets her body up and...

Teenage guy: What are you doing?!

… jumps. The teenage guy doesn't follow her lead at first, but as fire starts getting to his clothes, he jumps too. They land on stony ground, which hurts them so badly they start bleeding all over their faces. However, they still survive. The teenage guy is just lying still, unable to movie. But he can see Karena from just a short distance, so he knows they are both alive. After a few seconds though, somebody else jumps off the train. This poor person is not as lucky as lands so that the train crushes her legs.

Third survivor: OH GOD! OH GOD! OH GOD NO!!!

She survives, but will be crippled for the rest of her life...
