I want to know which death scene is the best for you guys in the Final Destination Series. A death scene serves as the "STAR" of the series among the fans, from Terry's infamous street accident to the tanning scene to the Gymnasium incident, there were many memorable deaths scenes as they were creative and brutal. Which Death, then, is the best of them all ??
Submit your nominations now in this thread and together with my own list, I'll compile the 16 Best Death Scenes off all time. We'll be starting a tournament to determine THE BEST DEATH SCENE OF ALL TIME !!
* notes: the tournament will consist of 4 rounds. Each round the list will be cut down in half, and the vote is entirely down to you in choosing the Ultimate Death Scene of the series.
I'd have to say the MALL ESCALATOR SCENE cos it's a big scale scene involving 2 lovers, one trying desperately to save the other. The effects are well done, the performance of the 2 actors are good and the sound/music goes very well.
There were many great ones, but the sequence in TFD where both Hunt and Janet were being hunted down by death at the same time (Hunt at the pool, Janet at the carwash) was pretty cool. The cameras going back and forth between the two scenes with everyone else splitting up trying to save them was pretty cool. Janet's death was prolonged here, but Hunt's death is definitely one of the more memorable ones of the series.
Erins Death in Final Destination 3....... The scene had so much suspense and build up, the atmosphere was also very dark and sinister, not knowing who was next kept us guessing. The death itself was so vicious, hearing Erin slowly dying after the nails are shot in her head, her weeping in agony, it really gave me chills when I first saw it.
I'd also have to go with the guy from FD2 being squashed by the falling glass panel... Great build up in th dentist. We think there's going to be an electrocution in the waiting room or a choking death in the dentist chair, but, no, it keeps us hanging until WHAM.
I have to say, I so wasn't expecting that and when it happened, I felt a tad queasy. Literally obliterated in a nano second.
Ms Lewton's death in the first one will always get to me. The first just had the scariest atmosphere, in my opinion. It was the darkest of the films, and each death was incredibly suspenseful. Lewton's death though... that scene just creeps me out in a way I can't quite describe.
The escalator scene and Hunt/the girl in the car wash were some of the best moments from the entire FD series. The way the redneck bigot dies (dragged down the street by his own truck, burning to death at the same time) was also freaky.
4 contains deft plotting and good use of symbolism (coins/water/American's love affair with the car) so I still don't understand why people hate it so much.
Despite how excellent the first two Final Destination film were with very epic death scenes, the tight continuity between films 1 & 2 (beautifully done) i'd have to say Sam and Molly's death was painfully ironic in FD5.
One being its the twist that reveal Final Destination 5 was a prequel, Two we know once that was done both Sam and Molly were ultimately doomed. Three; Sam's slow-mo death in the burning plane was both epic and sadly tragic at the same time. One where he realized his fate and was absolutely powerless to escape from it, as the character was quite likeable (akin to Thomas Burke from FD2) but got caught up in Death's plan no matter much he and Molly previously tried to avoid it all.
Sam's death was both massively epic and sad at the same time!
And his mere presence on Flight 180 raised a commonly asked question of the series, did Sam somehow pass on his ability of seeing visions/premonitions onto Alec Browning? And start this whole series off.
Hmm? Yeah there are many death's in this series that are great, sad and funny even? But Sam's is a hard one to forget and was probably one of the biggest if not one of the most tragic ones in the entire series next to Clear Rivers in FD2 or Wendy Christensen FD3.
I posted my thoughts on this subject before I Found this comment.
I say Sam's was the most horrific, simply because he realized it was going to happen like a cruel irony and helpless to stop or escape it.
his scream of agony, anguish and defeat as he was burning alive was sad.
tragic for everyone else on board, yes. but even more so because he KNEW how he was going to die. Clear's death too bothered me. Sam and Clear were both likeable people. both with feelings for others. ironically they both met the same type of Fiery deaths that were intended for them all along. very cruel. their deaths, despite the others horrid deaths in the other movies. got to me most of all.
Tod. Really suspenseful build-up that keeps you guessing how he'll die (which the gymnastic scene clearly took some inspiration from) while the death itself is incredibly disturbing despite not having a single drop of blood.
