It wasn't amazing but it was much better than the last one and I appreciated the tie-in to the original at the end. I really wish they would have just toughed it out and ended the movie at the plane crash scene but they may have been a little heavy on the audience.

True. If it ended on a serious note, people would have sort of shuffled out of the theater afterwards feeling sort of depressed (like 'Interstellar'). But when the movie ends on an almost comical note, it reminds people that the movie was fun (like 'Suicide Squad')

I feel you... I still prefer an impactful ending, a la "The Mist"
