Not sure why liberals celebrate JFK

He would be considered a Republican by today's standards. It shows how insanely to the left liberals have gone.

reply

not sure why republicons celebrate reagan? he was the least fiscally responsible president of all time..

reply

Yep. And Reagan would be considered a moderate Democrat by today's Republican standards. No way Reagan would ever get a Republican party nomination today given the extreme right nature of the party, which makes the party base look silly when they treat him as some kind of ultra conservative deity. Aside from his failed Reaganomics, he'd be to the left of modern conservatives on just about every other issue.

Television is a vice; film is an addiction.

reply

NO it shows how insanely to the RIGHT liberals have gone.
JFK was the W of his day. A regime addict Dynastic son from a pro Hitler clan installed into power via a crooked stolen election.

reply

Well, there are a few differences, tho.

1) JFK was the FIRST person in his family to hold public office.

2) JFK's legacy was mainly based on charisma and idealism, W's more
on values.

reply

JFK did more regime change in a short time than W did in three times the time span. He even did regime change in Canada sending in 400 agents to rat *beep* the Diefenbaker re-election campaign.

Want to bet the real Jackie will not be revealed ? She visited the White House during the LBJ period...McNamara came out into the corridor to greet her and she just exploded at him "Stop the bombing stop the bombing !" How much do you want to bet that scene will not be in there ? If that was Hillary Clinton it would be "Do more bombing do more bombing !"

reply

Not really. The country was far more liberal in the 60s. Heck, Nixon would have been considered a communist by todays standards.

reply

Not Nixon, but Eisenhower would...

reply

Sure Nixon would

he supported public funding of birth control
he supported affirmative action
he supported ratification of the equal rights amendment
he signed EPA into law
He signed title IX into law
He signed the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 into law
Pat Nixon made public areas of White House accessible to people with disabilities

When modern GOP votes against lilly ledbetter pay act--Nixon has lots going for him. He definently has his flaws. But he's likeable compared to Donald Trump.

reply

Certainly more idealistic, but not more liberal.

reply

Same reason they celebrate Eisenhower.

What's missing in movies is same as in society: a good sense of work ethic and living up to ideals.

reply

I love how the Republicans now try to claim Kennedy, asserting always that "JFK would have been considered a Republican/conservative" today.

The hell he would've.

It shows a complete lack of understanding of JFK on policy. At the time, he was viewed as being so liberal as to be "dangerous."

Republicans? I'm dumbfounded by this party more and more. They let their party be high jacked by INSANE people then they make all of that Palin/Perry nonsense look like a walk in the park compared to their utter idiocy of Trump. I wouldn't trust them to run a power mower!

reply

I agree with the TS.

reply

Eisenhower would be considered a commie pinko today.

4) You ever seen Superman $#$# his pants? Case closed.

reply

Reagan would be considered a lesbian feminist today.

Nixon would be seen as a Backstreet Boy.
