Embarrassingly Bad Writing of a Woman's Story
This was so superficial, so boring and so "Completely misses the point" that I stayed to watch the credits and fully expected the writer's name to be "Oswald." It's THAT bad.
Whether a fan or a detractor of Jackie there's a lot of story to be told - but not in this film. There are both praises and criticisms that could be made of the woman but this film simply oozes contempt not by direct attack nor by scandalous exposure but rather by dismissive, cardboard treatment of the character.
For example, potential stories related to Jackie would include her childhood, her education, her romances, her public/political life, her loss of children to death, her family relationships, her friendships, her restoration and historical work with the White House, her pop culture/fashion influences, her challenges as a wife of a philanderer and what all of that did to her religious faith... the list goes on.
To deem this project as being "good" requires sexist-based disability in the capacity to recognize women as human beings. This screenplay is the sexist equivalent of the racist insult of wearing black-face and calling it funny.
The film, "Joy" failed in exactly the same regard.
Anyone writing about women should take a look at this, first.
