Lip syncing Jeckie Kennedy's White House Tour?

Did any.one else think Portman was lip syncing Jackie Kennedy's tour of the White House?

For those who dont know, she famously did a tv tour of the White House to show its furnishings, artifacts, and the renovation project she was doing.

For those who have seen the film, did you get the same sense I got, that Portman was lip syncing that old tv audio? Something was off in those scenes and I cant figure out what it was. i sure as hell cant see why the director had her lip sync, if that is indeed what happened.

I found this to be a mediocre film.

I thought that exact thing, although I marveled at it, more than anything else.

I was a kid when JFK was killed, and I've long-been interested in the assassination, as well as that general time period. I am glad I saw the movie, but my wife would not have liked it, I don't think. Certainly dark. We saw "Hidden Figures" the day before and it was uplifting, but I've since read that the racism and segregation portrayed was a significant exaggeration, if not made-up.

I'd take "Jackie" over that film.

No...they just were trying to make the audio sound a little older just like the made their White House Tour look a little dated. Natalie sounds just like her.

reply

I don't think her voice was, but JFK's voice in that scene was definitely synced.

Some of the audio was dubbed. I've watched the real White House tour enough times to know.

Yes - it's the only time Portman does really sound like Jackie, because it is Jackie.

The lip-syncing in the scene where she shows off the banqueting hall is definitely not 100% on the mark. You can pick it if you watch carefully.

reply

Really?

They used Jackie's voice on the soundtrack, not Natalie ?

I have to watch it again...
