Were people expecting an Oscar worthy movie?

This movie was very stupid, but so was the first one. They're both so
bad they're good. Did everyone expect this movie not to be stupid? It's
as if everyone came into this movie expecting an Oscar.

I'm fond of the first film, and I enjoyed this one. It was silly but still fun.
