Did anyone else feel like Will Ferrell was not using the same voice at all for this portrayal of Mugatu as compared to Zoolander 1?

In the first film, I remember his voice being much higher and more erratic sounding than in this film.

I loved Zoolander 1, and I was like.. did Will Ferrell not go back and watch the first one before filming this, and just totally forgot how he made Mugatu's voice sound?

I enjoyed Mugatu's scenes in this film, but the difference in vocal performance really took me out of it.

Really? I thought his voice here was exceptionally high.

I thought it sounded higher than in 1. But later in the film it was back to normal.
