Unhealthy behavior that is actually promoted on this show...

There is unhealthy behavior that is actually promoted on this show. I'm not talking about overweight people monitoring their weight. I believe that is healthy.

The unhealthy behavior to which I'm referring is the idea that someone can just quit a steady job, one in which you need a college degree for, and then to just magically fall into something that will earn you more money. I get that this is a TV show, and it wouldn't be any fun if Molly just sat around the house all day, but from the moment she jumped out the window, the majority of the talk was about how she would eventually make so much money. I don't think that's a healthy way to think, and it is kind of annoying to see it glamorized on this show.

The part that bothered me is Molly constantly declaring now how much she hated teaching and she only went into it for the benefits and security; there was no hint of that in the first two seasons. I loved to watch her sparring with that obnoxious, big-mouthed little boy in her class.

Molly was a lot more likeable in the first two seasons. I hate when sitcoms turn the wife into a bitch.

I think the message here is - don't ditch your job until you get married to a guy with a job.

It's funny because I have a cousin, who is gay, who always wanted to open up his own flower shop but was unable to do it until his father died 12 years ago and left him some money. I used to say that it is too bad he wasn't born a woman because he probably could have found a man and opened up his shop 20 years before instead of working in a job he hated.

It's just a comedy show. Nothing meant to be taken seriously. They are not saying it is okay to up and quit your job. How is it unhealthy? It does not affect ones health. The unhealthy stuff is the pot head sister and alcoholic mother and mike eating up all the food and sucking the insides of cake through a straw because their fat stomachs can't wait for the person to get home for whom the cake is for. Mike acts like he is going to starve to death if his meal is late. 

Mike is a pig and eats food that is not his to eat.

The fact that she quit by jumping out a window means that we're not meant to take that story arc seriously.

I thought you were going to say the unhealthy behavior is six adults, which includes a druggie and a raging alcoholic, living together for no good reason, having noisy sex and discussing it. I think that whole scenario is weird and sick. And by the way, they should all be rolling in money, except Joyce, since they seem to pay no rent.

If people make life decisions based on a TV show, they deserve what they get.

The characters are meant to be laughed at and not be used as role models.

How do you tell the difference between simply *depicting* a behavior - just showing it- and *promoting* said behavior - saying that others should do the same?
