Thanksgiving marathon on PBS

I don't understand why "season 2 episode 5" is not the same as the Netflix "series 2 episode 5". Was the show re-edited for this marathon with some cut out? Or was the show edited differently for Britain and the US? I also noted that this marathon had only 4 episodes of season one, whereas Netflix has 7 episodes. Is it all there, just numbered differently? And if so, why? I am aware that seasons are called series in Britain.

This marathon is a fund raiser with interruptions selling the entire six seasons on dvd. So are they just showing excerpts and if so, why call it a marathon, and why advertise it on the internet as "all six seasons"? Can anyone figure this out?

Whatever was being shown, it was local to your PBS station, not national - the nationally advertised PBS offerings on Thursday night, for instance, were "Anne of Green Gables" and "Pollyanna".
