Mr. Selfridge's time period would have matched (teens-twenties), but the Crawley's social set would have had little or no interaction with Selfridge's.
Call the Midwife begins 30 years after Downton Abbey ends.
I don't know how they could've made a whole episode connecting those two shows but it would have been fun to see Mary shopping at Selfridge's.
