Lady Mary Crawley's Second Wedding
I think Mary Crawley looked absolutely flawless when she married Henry. I did not like her look at all when she married Matthew. I am not sure if it was the awful hairstyle or the dress.

shareBoth Mary and Edith had more form-fitting, figure-flattering outfit/dress for their 2nd weddings. However, I'm not sure how historically accurate either were for 1925. Thought loose-fitting with a drop-waist was the norm, even for wedding dresses.
Mary's jacket & hat were really nice. I've never ever been a fan of thin, narrow pleats so the skirt did nothing for me.
Did not like Mary's hair for either of her weddings - not flattering either time. Not sure why it was curled for her 2nd wedding. I would have preferred Mary's hair remain her "signature" straight short bob.
I've seen some criticisms after S6E8 that Mary's second wedding outfit made her look too matronly.
There was some information on the PBS website from Anna Mary Scott Robbins who designed the dress and it was full of symbolism that I certainly missed! From what I can remember the butterflies in her hat were meant to symbolise a new beginning and she deliberately chose some geometric patterns to fit Mary's personality - something about 'order and control'!. The curled hair made her look softer - very pretty. The article might still be there if you look.

Hmm I tried to google to look and I can find a lot of great full length shots for her first wedding (maybe some are promotional shots) but only some stills from waist up for the second marriage.

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I'll be over here looking through your stuff.

Not much, I'm afraid.
Thank you!

I liked all the wedding gowns, but I think Rose’s was my favorite. 🙂
