*spoiler* why wouldn’t fish just talk?
The movie sets it up like there was some great mystery behind Fish and maybe that he’s an undercover cop. But it turns out, he just clumsily dropped all the diamonds during the heist.
Why wouldn’t he just tell the gang this from the start? Why stay quiet and endure the torture? Sure it can be argued that they wouldn’t believe him or they’d kill him. But what has he got to lose? They’re already brutally torturing him, so what’s the point of keeping the secret?
For a while, I thought maybe he was working with the sushi girl, that out of remorse for her husband’s death, he had given her the diamonds and was therefore protecting her identity. But this isn’t the case. Fish simply dropped the diamonds and therefore had no reason to stay silent and endure the torture.
