Ending explained. Possibly.

At the start David loses the customers retirement money Corey tells him not to stress over it because 'everyone is screwed'. I took that to mean their company has lost a lot of money for a lot of clients.

Given the planning involved in the setup and the killer's filing cabinet full of other plans I figured he was a former client who lost everything and is now taking revenge on the employees of the company one by one.

When I consider this theory I don't find the movie that bad (although it was pretty dumb haha). On the other hand it was full of holes. The simple solution to the whole thing was to quickly sneak away while the killer was banging around the back of the ATM. Maybe the guy's next victims will be smarter.

The killer selects ATMs. Not victims per se. That's why at the start and end of the film we see the killer mapping out various ATMs and their security cameras. It seems the victims were just in the wrong place at the wrong time. The movie was entertaining. But failed to provide rational explanations for how things progress in the film.

He's an architect. He builds these ATMs. Picks out the cams, the locations, everything. Architect/serial killer.

I don't know a lot about anything but I know a little about practically everything

No, I disagree because the killer is not a psychic. He can't predict that the people he wants to kill will randomly happen upon his rigged ATM.

Hmmm, interesting. I thought he was going to rob the mall or the bank and he was knocking out all the cameras within the vicinity so there would be no visual evidence. Some of his plans talked about the cameras at the mini mart, a gas pump, etc. And if I recall, there was an escape route mapped out through the woods on one of the maps. He had to get the customers in the ATM to the point that they would destroy the camera. Whether they lived or died was not the issue since no one had actually seen a face.
