An incredibly well directed movie
The screenplay might not have been the best, but it was very uniquely directed. It made it feel like the characters were really out there alone and were terrified with their lives on the line. These were real men with no special survival skills and they were thrown into this situation with no time to physically or mentally prepare for it. It shows how fragile and important human life is, and it's terrifying to have to face your own mortality. The movie treats death this way, unlike how most movies treat death, as if it's not really something to take seriously or as if the everyday person's life is meaningless. This is what real people do if they were thrust into this situation. We're not all Schwarzeneggers who don't get scared and just kick wolves asses til a convenient chopper comes to rescue him. So I really appreciate this movie for the way it made you feel as isolated and terrified as these guys were. It's a true testament to the power of film.
