Help with a line of Portugese

Now this is during the scene where the goon who was the overseer of the warehouse is explaining to Reyes what happened. The subtitles translate it as "The same men who were on the train" or something and I'd just like it if someone typed up the original Portugese line here.

Thanks.

os mesmos que estavam no trem

Actually, he said "os caras no trem". A better translation would be "the guys in the train".

Thanks for the replies, and yeah, I think that "os caras" was what I heard. Can you tell me if the "os" is pronounced "osh", or did I just hear that wrong.

reply

That depends on where you are. In Portugal and in the State of Rio de Janeiro, where this film takes place, people say "osh". In other places in Brazil, people say "oss". Actually, the "o" sounds more like an English "oo", as in "foot".

As a Portuguese myself, I'm happy that you are interested in Portuguese, so (as you may already have realised) please don't forget the "u" after the "g" in the word "Portuguese".

Sorry for being this guy, but you seemed genuinely interested.

Obrigado ;)

The bigger question is why are people in Brazil speaking Portugese and not Brazilian?
