All I know is that we all lost in the fight. The screenwriter could have done it where it came to a draw. Obviously, for the sequel... are you kidding me.
Aside from the comment up above, I'm usually a decent human being.
That fight was as close to a draw as we could've come!

the rock would win, hands down. ecspecially now that vin diesel has let himself go. He looked ridiculous wearing that wife beater and trying to act big.His arms get smaller all the time. He looks like he has no muscle anymore, i saw a picture for the new riddick. he lost some fat.
"screw you guys, I'm going home."
Let himself go? Wife beater??

yes. Did you see the movie?? He was fat and had no back or arms, the scene where he is in the wife beater and is up in the rocks face was funny. He was so tiny compared to the rock.
"screw you guys, I'm going home."
I got no idea what movie you watched, but I watched Fast Five!

He hasn't let himself go at all, it's just The Rock is so in shape (Quite possibly even bigger than he was in the WWF!) that he makes everyone else look out of shape.
Oh, and Dwayne would smash Vin, comfortably i'm afraid.
Vin Diesel is only 187 cm...short compared to the Rocks 195... people need to keep that in mind. The Rock also stated in an interview that he wanted to bulk up and be a behemoth of a man for Hobbs character... and he did just that. Naturally he's only about 220 lbs, for this movie though he would've added about 30 lbs for the role. That, plus leading into Wrestlemania against Cena he'd want to look like the Rock of old.

Yeah I think that was the biggest the rock has ever been, wish I looked like that. He's got those samoen genes, those boys grow.
"screw you guys, I'm going home."
He looks huge, much bigger than than when he was a full time performer in the WWF/WWE. Seems less agile because of it, but it's The Rock, he's still great in the ring.
shareReally....WWF = Fake ass fights....we all know that. Its crazy that people even bring that up likes it's real....The winner is decided upon before the "fight" even starts.
Vin was a bouncer and had to break up fights, as well as fight himself, true this was years ago but I'm pretty sure that they both could take each other...evenly due to past experiences.
Winning a fight does not mean that you are bigger, stronger than the other person, but how agile you are, the stamina that you have as well as quick thinking. All of theses things help when you are fighting someone bigger, stronger than you are.
So to say that The Rock would win hands down just because of his size...I don't believe at all.
You can believe all you want but that doesn't change the facts
here are the facts
Yes WWF WWE and all other professional wrestling is choreographed but fake? NO it is not fake. ask anyone who actually wrestles professionally(the rock, Hulk Hogan etc etc)they will tell you that they are actually doing every move they are doing there are no stuntmen they are actually using real techniques that hurt even when preformed under controlled conditions
also Dwayne has actual wrestling experience not just the choreographed Wrestling but actually wrestling experience. he is a skilled grappler. and in fact just as dangerous with his fists. he is also incredibly agile and quick not just for his size but agile and quick in general.
Vin being a former bouncer means jack *beep*
if that had to do with anything then you could argue that Bruce willis would beat up the rock also because he was a bouncer
the fact is that there is no way that Vin ever threw a person out of a bar or night club who was as big as Dwayne or as skilled in Wrestling.
and if you knew about bouncers you would know that when throwing a person out they do it as a team
Though mass doesn't translate to strength in every individual, The Rock definitely looked much more powerful, and agile, than Diesel in this film. Diesel truly looked like age is hitting him and when put next to the Rock, he looked even worse. The Rock gained 30 pounds for this film, most of it was clearly lean muscle, and he also is getting back into wrestling - Diesel slacked off here.
I thought the fight was underwhelming myself, especially how none of them had any bruises or cuts afterwards but that's PG-13 for you.
If there were a fight between Vin Diesel & Dwayne Johnson in reality, DJ would humiliate Vin Diesel!
Vin Diesel is cool, and I would NEVER want to fight him myself, but DJ vs. VD? It wouldn't even be close.
In Rockstar We Trust
They smash through glass, wood and metal in a fierce fight and wind up with the usual Hollywood tiny little cut by the eye (Vin) and under the nose (Rock). No broken faces, eyeballs hanging out of sockets, no broken legs, ruptured livers, broken ribs, shattered spine, cuts on the fists...then again, this is a critic-proof cartoon movie so you just roll with it.
shareYeah, I was also very disappointed in the fight, it could have been much better.
shareIn all fairness, it's a bit hard to make a realistic fight between those two.
I've met both -- Vin once years ago and Dwayne many times as he's related to the Polamalu family (Troy, Kenny, Maika) and then many other football players. Samoan bloodlines overlap like crazy.
Vin might be listed at 6-foot, but I'm not sure he was much over 5-foot-10. Maybe 5-foot-11.
I've been combine measured for football, which is your truest test of height. I am 6'3.3 or 6-foot-3 3/8. Dwayne is my size. He's not 6-foot-6 like he was listed in the WWF or whatever the hell it's called.
That's about 5 or 6 inches difference between the two. He's also massive.
Tough to do a realistic fight between the two. Dwayne would throw him around in real life. Played NT next to Warren Sapp at Miami. Dad was a professional wrestler too. Uncles were All-Americans at USC and UCLA. Other Uncle was a NT at PSU. Cousin is an All-Pro for the Steelers.
Little different bloodlines.
Anyway, just funny watching it to me.
Both cool guys by the way. Laid back. Dwayne has actually always been a comedian. Watching him in this movie was really awkward having met him. (Not acting like he's my "pal", just have met him quite a few times.)
Thanks for that detailed autobiography Matthew ! Lol just kidding pal !
shareThe fight was pure Hollywood hyperbole. In reality Hobbs character, with his training and background(We will not even get into Dwayne's far superior build), would have stepped out of his vehicle and either literally beaten Dom to death, killing him with his bare hands right there in front of his "crew" without Dom even getting more than a desparate glancing blow or two in, or quickly subdued, cuffed and arrested his ass. At the very least, Dom would have been hauled out of the garage in handcuffs with tears streaming down his face humiliated. When Dom rambled incoherently about Hobbs just making a big mistake in hitting his car I nearly lost consciousness from rolling my eyes. Then, when he grabbed the wrench to bash his head in, which was the film's idiotic way of signaling his superiority and/or equal skills to Hobbs, I found myself frantically searching for a vomit bag.
shareThis post is straight up hilarious hahaha
shareYes your correct in fact Brian who was a deep cover operative for the F.B.I would have in fact had the training to take on Dom.
Vin Diesel is not really that big anyways. hand to hand combat doesn't require size but the thing about Dwayne is he has size and hand to hand combat skill from years of wrestling training am likely boxing and kickboxing
Agree with everyone else. Dwayne has 5 or 6 inches on Vin and probably 40 or 50 pounds. He would toss Vin like a rag doll. Wouldn't even be close.

To be honest I loved this fight scene. Easily one of the best fight scenes outside of a martial arts film or movie that focuses mainly on fighting in a lng time. It was brutal, violent, and intense. Vin and Dwayne toss and tackle each other around like crazy. Choreography was done amazingly.
That being said, the very end was my one problem with it. It should have ended with a draw, OR Dwayne winning since Dom and the crew were getting captured anyways. But I've noticed that Dom is made to be something of a superman when it comes to fighting or violence, he never loses. Before fighting Hobbs I can't recall Dom ever even looking like he was in trouble for a second when in a fight.
Another reason why Hobbs/Dwayne should have won is because of how he was billed. He comes across as the world's most dangerous bounty hunter, supposed to be a credible threat to protagonists. Dom's a tough guy for sure, but a man of Hobb's caliber should have been made superior in that scene.
So in a nutshell, amazing fight, ending was a bit disappointing.
The real actors has nothing to do with it, it's hollywood. If that were the deciding factor I can't count how many fights should have been reversed throughout history.

Actually, I should say, there's been one person in the entire series who got the best of Dom and made him look dumb and helpless: the trucker with the shotgun in the first film of the series. Anyone who wants to get the best of Dom and his elite crew needs to find that guy.
shareI really thought they did a good job with this fight. You have to realize that Just because Vin is so much smaller than Johnson in real life doesn't always mean that their real life dimensions are the same as their characters. Of course, Johnson is a lot bigger and is going to be bigger in the movie, but we can suspend belief enough to pretend that he isn't THAT much bigger in the movie. I like how they did the fight scene because Hobb's is obviously a lot more trained and has a unique style of combat, but Toretto is a brawler, and has a lot more to fight for. You can see this in how the fight plays out. Because of Hobb's superior fighting skills, he is seen as having the upper hand throughout most of the fight and appears to be winning, Then, at the very end Toretto has the chance to finish Hobb's off with the wrench, but chooses not to. To me, it seemed like Hobb's was beating Toretto most of the fight, but Toretto could have won in the end. That way you still have respect for both fighters.
shareDraw!!! So close!!!
"Peace and love"
I was shocked at the outcome, I know it probably had to go that way to progress the plot but come on!!! The Rock is a BEAST!!!
shareI dunno I think it could go either way. Diesel trains Boxing and BJJ in real life, I really don't understand why people think of him as a brawler:

i doesn't matter if Dom trains in boxing and BJJ
the wrock is a world class wrestler(yes the wrestling he uses is real and effective) and has trained in mma as well
