WTF?

Okay... this movie is just senseless. There's very little to "get" in this movie.

Which group of people thought this would make a good movie?

It's not that meaningful, and it's just pretentious.

Here's my problem with it:
Lucy is a university student with 3 jobs - a waitress, administrative assistant, and a guinea pig for subject testing. Her closest friend is Birdman, who is an alcoholic and she visits him on a weekly basis. Her roommates aren't great people, and she is expected to pay rent. She sees the prostitution ad, and decides to act as a lingerie waitress then advanced into the sleep chamber. She's handled by 3 men, and one of them dies besides her on the bed while she is asleep.

This is my problem with the movie. What's the point of her going to university? She didn't even have time to study. Why not take the time off to figure things? Look, if she wanted to do responsible sex, even in a business context. That's her choice. But she's so passive about everything, and acts like she was a slave to the business.

She was not a slave to anyone, she chose to go into. She was told of the circumstances. She had no right to crush berries in the person's car.
No one forced her into this gig. I mean, yeah, I wished her room mates would be more patient with her paying rent, but that was the terms of the contract.

What did you expect when you decided to joined a brothel and be an active prostitute when slumber?! She wasn't powerless at all.

I mean, seriously! WTF?!

Psychologically speaking, Lucy is pretty dysfunctional and careless.

I mean, she asked someone to marry her. Someone she didn't care about. But I hate it when directors or film producers make this film seem deep...when it's not really deep at all. It's ridiculous and pretentious to claim the film is something worthy of being good...all audience see is a bunch of nude scenes.

I get that Lucy is made to be dysfunctional, and she is pretty much shut away from every one else in the world except for Birdman... but why couldn't this movie be somewhat realistic? I get that there are men in the world similar to all three men in the movie and their struggles.

I don't know it's baffling... I am the type to call a spade, a spade.
This fate could have prevented if she just cared enough about herself.

I'll never understand why IMDB users devote so much time to movies they DON'T like, but I agree this movie has some flaws, but it also has some strengths.

I'm a lazy guy myself and I understand why attractive young women would prefer to take one high-paying job as a stripper or call girls as opposed to three minimum-wage jobs if they need money. Obviously, she has some problems with men as a lot of women do. Her clients obviously have some problems severe problems with women.

The nudity here is completely essential to the plot, and while I enjoyed it, I also don't watch films just to see nudity. I have found Americans especially seem to label EVERY film that has a lot of nudity as either "porn" or as a pretentious European art film (sometimes both). Judging a movie simply for having a lot of nudity is just as bad as watching it just because it has nudity.
