About a year ago I found myself in the horrible tourist trap that is Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. I generally hated every minute of it, but every day at dusk I would go down to watch the sun set over the ocean (trying to ignore the 10,000 morons who were taking pictures of it with their phones so they could prove to everyone they know on Facebook that, yes, they really were on vacation in Hawaii).

The point is some things really are just beautiful IN THEMSELVES. You don't need to justify them. All you can do is look on with wonder and awe. Whatever you think of the rest of this movie (and it has its flaws certainly), Emily Browning's nude body is like that.

I'm an older lesbian (with small breasts), and I can say something to the points about Emily's body.
She is pretty, no question.
She has beautiful, soft curves, and smooth, white skin.
I'm attracted to smaller breasted women, so that's a plus. (In fact, I'm turned off by large breasted women to the point that I wouldn't even try.)
I think she did a great job in this role, especially about showing she was comfortable being and acting in the nude without having it be a distraction to her performance.
