As far as I know it, Thierry Guetta may not even be his real name. Mind you, the movie has so many layers of BS that you can't be sure what's real and what's not.

WOW. Thanks for posting this - I just watched ETTGS and was almost certain that the Thierry Guetta in the film was the same Thierry I was friends with in LA in the early 80s. I met Thierry through his brother Patrick (can't help but pronounce it "Patreek" in my head!).

I knew Patrick when he worked at Harari on Venice Beach, and met Thierry and another brother subsequently. I never knew that they went on to open the t-shirt shop, but the pieces seem to fit together. What a blast from the past :) I had the nagging feeling that it was one and the same person, but it just seemed too unbelievable to be true. Now that you mention Patrick, I really do think it's him.
