Selling defectuous clothes as if they were designer work for a fortune.

I'm paraphrasing Thierry Guetta here, but this remark near the beggining of the movie seems to be a spot-on foretelling of what he ends up doing with his art exhibition. He takes someone else's work and make them pass as his own, then makes a lot of money out of it.

To be sincere, I find this comment to be a bit too plain not to have been staged in a way or the other. The commentary on art is too explicit and relevant later on, it feels like foreshadowing in a written piece of fiction. But this is my own spectulation, and maybe just my impression.

Nevertheless, this also goes to show how much of a talentless hack Mr Brainwash really is. He's a leech, he plagiarises styles and transforms them into souless art only meant to be packaged and sold for a high price. He has never done anything on his own and relies on the talent of others to copy their inspiration. It also goes to show how much of a phenomenon of trend mordern art can become. Mr Brainwash made sure his show was going to be known of, he publicized it like it was a new Coka-Cola flavor pushed down the throat of consumers like there was no tommorow. Because his show became known of, it also became popular. And because it was popular, it gained in popularity.

It's a commentary on art, and it also doubles as a commentary on consumerism.
