Gap in the seasons

Does anyone know why there is a gap between season four and five? I really like this show. It seems too long to go between the two seasons.

Not surprised. They also had a huge gap between season 2 and 3 with season 2 ending in 2012 and season 3 beginning in 2014

Also, there's only 2-3 writers for the entire show so they write the entire season before they start filming which would take up to a year

Stephen is on tv this morning, they will film in season 5 in April, he thinks it will be the final season, however he said you never know.
