Typical, boring, cliche, nothing new or special

The movie is just like what I thought it would be, only worse though. I think I laughed once at the jokes. They weren't funny to me and the story was nothing new at all. Guy gets girl, family does not approve, guy looses girl, guy gets girl again yay world peace I guess. And it has lots of cliche tropes like what I just said, the family does not approve... This is like what, the 500th time this has happened? And Ember is supposed to want to run the shop, but she actually doesn't! Yoooo oh my God how creative you are, writers! That totally hasn't been used a million other times! So original!

Except that's not not what happened. It's not so much that the family didn't approve of him, but rather than Ember refused to explain who she was dating and essentially blamed him for flooding the house. That and the water family approved just fine.

I think you're just trying hard to look for a tropes. Kind of like how people say all slasher movies are the same. In a reductionist sense you could say all movies are the same.

I’m the total opposite from you. I was in no hurry to watch this as I didn’t think it would be great and turns out it was amazing.
