Yes and the dialogue has gotten worse particularly Aria's lines where she explains statements that don't require clarification or asks questions that have already been answered.
"When life gives you lemons" Jessica D: sleep with their fathers and have secret lemon children
It pains me to admit it, but I agree about Shay. She's still not wowing me, but there has been definite improvement.
Everyone was really down on Ashley a few seasons ago (she's just shouting, she doesn't care, etc) and I didn't see it back then. But lately, she does seem very bland... like she's just phoning it in. I can't tell if she getting direction to act that way since her storyline is supposed to be dark and traumatic, but it's coming across as very flat.
I actually think Shay has improved a lot. Troian is amazing as ever and Ashley and Sasha have really been killing it. The only one I've been disappointed by is Lucy but that's because they literally give her nothing to do that isn't Ezra-centred, and he makes her boring.
It's been pretty meh. Toby is still awful, and we have characters who are just stale and the same since season 1 (Ezra, Caleb, Emily, Noel, and Sadly Jenna(Who I love but is sadly just a dull and repetitive character)
While I loved Andrea Parker as Jessica, I feel as though she's not as great as Mary. I duno why.
There hasn't really been too many emotional great scenes, but Spencer & Janel have still had great performances this season. Wish they'd learn to utilize Mona more though, wonderful character and actress ( like seriously they're bringing back sydney
Then there's Sasha/Ali. Who I think has done an AMAZING job this season

SAME. I actually said that a few weeks ago to someone else! I am floored by how bad she seems this season. All of her lines are delivered in a way that just makes her sound delusional. I think she's supposed to be mysterious and ominous, but it's not working at all. And like you said, I never had this opinion when she was Jessica.

There's no excuse for their lack of energy. They are getting paid over a million per season and should try their very best, no matter how awful the scripts are. I have no pity for laziness.
I can see why there is a huge temptation to lack energy since the show is awful and repetitive, but at the end of the day you're right - they get paid a ton of money to be on this awful and repetitive show. And the show was well on it's way to sucking the last time they signed contracts, so they should have declined on these two seasons if they weren't interested in the job anymore.
