After watching it back, in the flashback of Mr and Mrs D dropping 'Charles' off at Ridley... is there any reasoning behind Mr D referring to Alison as 'The Baby'?as opposed to her actual name?

I found that quite odd myself but didn't Kenneth call Jason by name in the same scene?

Yes, something along the lines of 'we can't have him hurting Jason and the baby'.
Perhaps just odd writing!
