Darkest Season?

Which season or seasons are the darkest for you? I know the majority would say 3B but for me it is 4B. 3B has Spencer's breakdown and joining the A-team, Toby being A and thought to be dead, Ashley hitting Wilden, and the Radley scenes. But the finale ruined 3B for me. 4B had us believed Ezra being A, Aria hurting, Spencer drug addiction, Mrs. D trying to take Spencer down, A's tactics such as sticking knives into Jake's punching bag, placing a message into Hanna's mouth, placing bones into Spencer's dress, Spencer believing she hit Alison or Bethany, Mrs. D burying Alison alive, Mrs. D getting buried. Also 4B has a much darker tone and the music is awfully gloomy.

For me it's 6A followed by 3B.

you'd think it would be 6A what with the dollhouse but that arc felt REALLY tame considering they kinda dealt with their issues in two episodes and it was pretty soft. it seemed more like the girls had been kidnapped and dropped off an hour later as opposed to held captive and tortured for two weeks. I think a big problem with the show is that no matter what happens Marlene wants to portray them as 'ordinary school girls' so even when half of the towns been murdered right in front of them and they've been kidnapped they just go back like its nbd.

when alison finally returned back from being dead shes like 'DAD YOU GOTTA LET ME GO TO SCHOOL, HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO CUT CLASS IF YOU DONT EVEN SIGN ME UP FOR IT'.

How to get away with murder and scream do a good job of not falling into this pattern. the characters strive to be normal, but fail. their lives are always hectic and crazy and it shows in every little interaction they have.

PLL is a teen show masquerading as a mystery.

HTGAWM and SCream and mystery shows masquerading as teen shows.

4B always sticks out as the darkest one to me. i think its mostly cuz the lighting was just dark in general, but them dealing with Ezra (Even if we knew it was a false flag) and then learning about Alison's mom kinda set the tone that arc. also at that point the body count was just really kicked up.

earlier season murders had been almost innocent, girls found in the backyard. dark, but with that touch of youth. now its just cops and running over cops, then cops turning up, and all that nonsense.

Overall, I'd say Season 4. But Season 3 is a runner up.
