I had just started watching the show...
And I'm gonna write my experience here, maybe some people are interested in reading it. I first tried to watch the show in 2013, and I thought, "How are people going to like this show? Every reveal that they're gonna have is almost always going to not lead them any closer to "A" because if it does, then the show would end, and they wouldn't have that." I am not looking to watch a show without a pay-off, so after the Pilot, I decided to stop. Not long ago I was asked by a streaming service in my country to subtitle it, so I did, and I decided to give it a try again. At first I was like, "This is trash." Then, I watch episode 3, "This is trash." Then, "This is trash, this is trash, this is trash." And without I realized, I'm on episode 18 now. LOL.
So, okay, here's my two cents. The casting was totally weird. It was kind of hard to suspend my disbelief and see the girls as 16 years-olds (I'm still struggling), maybe Lucy Hale, but the rest, I don't know, especially Shay Mitchell who looked like a grown woman. And Jenna! Oh my God, she looked way way too old to be in the same grade as them. Her casting was, by far, the worst. I couldn't believe that Sasha Pieterse was only 13 (she looked almost the same as the rest of the girls), and the fact that I knew her age also made the scene where a 27 or something Troian Bellisario afraid of her really weird. By the way, about Jenna, were her scenes intentionally hilarious? I always gigled whenever she showed up, and the girls got smart and left her alone without her knowing it and such, and I felt like she should always be accompanied by sitcom laughs or something. And man, the parts whenever they showed A's body parts doing something were always sooo cheesy! I grinned so wide when A was literally watching the girls on her TV and eating popcorn. If they tried to be menacing with those shots, it didn't work. At all.
Spencer is my favorite out of all the girls. I love how tough, head-strong, and confident she really is. At first I thought she is the least attractive among all the pretty girls with Lucy being the most beautiful, but then she's gotten more and more sexier with her personality and attitude. Troian's acting is also the best out of all of them, with Shay's being the worst (Ashley's #2 and Lucy's #3).
I don't like Mrs. Fitz and Aria's relationship. At all. And I could not believe they are romanticizing it. It's sooo icky. It's statutory rape! And I'm dissapointed that my favorite character, Spencer, the one with the most conscience, the brightest, has never called it out.
Out of all of A's tactics, the one that worked the most was when she turned Hanna into a total puppet, wrapped around her little finger. The scene where she made Hanna eat a dozen of pig-decorated cupcakes was the best. There should be more like that.
I don't like Lucas. Dude's creepy.
Love Emily's mom! I thought her arc is probably the best out of everyone. I was so sad when she threatened Paige's father, and her whole body was shaking. I wanted to give her a big hug. I was glad when Emily did.
I don't like the music. Makes the show seems cheaper than it should be.
Glad they ditched the Instagram-filter look that clouded the first half of the season.
I guess, that's it for now. Anyone have any question?
