Yeah I guess Ian and Julian are really good friends and they both requested a scene together.
And since Marlene clearly doesn't care about making any sense or about wasting our time she thought why not? I mean in what way would introducing them not be super shoehorned?
But I guess they have a lot in common:
Wren: I made out with Spencer when she was 16.
Ezra: Cool, I did the same with Aria!

But then we find out later on that the two are restarting the NAT Club to find new teenager girls to pursue. They are just waiting for the PLLs to turn 30(the age of no return).
